Dr Steven Kypraios MB.BS (Melb) FRACP FCSANZ is the founding director of the Sunshine Coast Cardiology Practice, established in 2011.
Dr Kypraios is a general and interventional cardiologist, with specialty interests in the areas of coronary artery stenting and angiography, the assessment and management of acute chest pain and heart attack, stress testing and echocardiography as well as pacemaker implantation and follow up.
Dr Kypraios was the first locally based, interventional cardiologist to offer cardiac stenting services on the Sunshine Coast, starting specialist practice at Buderim in 2006. He led the development of interventional cardiology services, as well as the acute STEMI after hours Cath lab service, at Buderim Private Hospital. Dr Kypraios is the inaugural director of the cardiac catheter laboratories at Buderim Private Hospital. He is a member of Buderim Private Hospital’s Clinical Quality and Safety committee.
A medical graduate of the University of Melbourne, Dr Kypraios undertook specialist physician training at the Alfred, Frankston and Western hospitals, and cardiology specialist training at Geelong Hospital. Upon being admitted to Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in cardiology, he undertook further postgraduate fellowship training in interventional cardiology at the University of Western Ontario, in London, Canada. He is a fellow of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand. He served as a visiting interventional cardiologist at the Prince Charles Hospital from 2006 to 2013, and is currently a full time dedicated private interventional cardiologist with consulting rooms on campus at the Buderim Private Hospital, where he is a visiting specialist.
